The Conversation Between Tour Guide and Tourist
in Jogjakarta, Indonesia
Me (guide) : Good morning, my name is joko and i
am your guide here for today in jogja. How are you?
Tourist : i am fine and i am ready to go around jogja with
you.
Me (guide) : ok lets go to my car, i’ll bring you
to very beautiful places in jogja with others
Tourist : ok. I really want to go to prambanan temple, can we
go there?
Me (guide) : ofcourse, it’s on my first list mam.
Tourist : ok let’s go!
Me (guide) : oke, we already arrived at prambanan
temple. Let me tell you about this temple first. Prambanan temple is
extraordinarily beautiful building constructed in the tenth century during the
reigns of two kings namely Rakai Pikatan and Rakai Balitung. Soaring up to 47
meters (5 meters higher than Borobudur temple), the foundation of this temple has
fulfilled the desire of the founder to show Hindu triumph in Java Island. This
temple is located 17 kilometers from the city center, among an area that now
functions as beautiful park. Now let’s go around the temple.
Tourist : do you know the legend
behind this temple? Could you tell us?
Me (guide) : of course, There is a legend that
Javanese people always tell about this temple. As the story tells, there was a
man named Bandung Bondowoso who loved Roro Jonggrang. To refuse his love,
Jonggrang asked Bondowoso to make her a temple with 1,000 statues only in
one-night time. The request was nearly fulfilled when Jonggrang asked the
villagers to pound rice and to set a fire in order to look like morning had
broken. Feeling to be cheated, Bondowoso who only completed 999 statues cursed
Jonggrang to be the thousandth statue.
Tourist : woaah, that’s interesting
legend. I want to take some picture here, could you help us for the camera?
Me (guide) : ok, let me take your picture.
Tourist : thank you.
Me (guide) : you’re welcome mam.
Tourist : do you know how many temple
here?
Me (guide) : Prambanan temple has three main
temples in the primary yard, namely Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva temples. Those
three temples are symbols of Trimurti in Hindu belief. All of them face to the
east. Each main temple has accompanying temple facing to the west, namely
Nandini for Shiva, Angsa for Brahma, and Garuda for Vishnu. Besides, there are
2 flank temples, 4 kelir temples and 4 corner temples. In the second area,
there are 224 temples.
Tourist : wow, thats pretty much
temple here. Let’s go around.
Me (guide) : ok, but twenty minutes more we have
to leave this temple to find the restaurant for lunch, after lunch we’re going
to go to traditional market in jogja.
Tourist : thats good, i want to buy
some batik for my family.
Me (guide) : now we’re arrived at Beringharjo
market. If you want to buy batik, Beringharjo is the best place because of its
complete collections; ranging from batik cloth to batik clothes made of both
cotton and silk materials, with the prices ranging from tens thousands to a
million. Collection of batik cloth is available in west and north parts of the
market. We are here until 4.30 pm.
Tourist : that’s enough time for me.
Me (guide) : it’s already 4.30 pm and as i can see
you bought a lot of things in there. Haha
Tourist : yeah, i can’t hold it. When i
see some Tees, batik, and accesoris i really want to buy all of them.
Me (guide) : haha. Actually I want to tell you
that this is the end of our tour for today but we still have two days to
explore jogja. So we’re going back to your hotel, and we’ll meet again tomorrow
at 8 am at the lobby.
Tourist : ok i am really tired today. See
you tomorrow.
